CHALLENGE
Taking the UX Design course at Red Academy gave me the chance to develop a concept for a restaurant app.

RESEARCH AND INTERVIEWS

Market analysis & surveys
– Britons eat out twice a week on average. 19% eat out regularly and 56% eat out occasionally.
– Being food conscious and eating healthy are becoming increasingly trendy.
– I conducted 2 surveys and interviewed 5 people.

Customer behaviour/trends
– When people talk about what they did at the weekend, during their holidays or after work, most of the time, the topic of conversation is a nice meal with family or friends.
– Likes to eat out and try different cuisines: 81.6%
– The quality of the food is top priority: 92.9%

CUSTOMER PROBLEMS & PERSONAS

– Has allergies or specific dietary restrictions: 33.4% (Ms)
– Is “picky”: 18.4% (Ms)
– It’s hard to find places for those who have specific dietary restrictions. (Ms&Mr)
– It is a struggle to find restaurants that are suitable
for everyone: 18.4% (Mr)
– They usually end up eating the only option they have on the menu or just eating the side dishes: 47% (Mr)
– At least one person they dine with has special dietary needs. (Ms&Mr)
– Uses lots of WhatsApp groups for organising eating out and finds it very inefficient and exhausting. (Mr)

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS

Competitor analysis showed a gap in the market as none of the apps had in-depth dietary-focused search options. Where they did, the options were very limited. This is where GrouPeas comes in.
